IPL Treatments

Harmony® Cosmetic Laser Systems

The skin is the largest organ in our bodies.  It protects us from infection and shields us from harmful substances. However, as we age, the effects of the sun, wind, toxins in the air and our hormones take their toll on the appearance of your skin.

Imperfections from sun damage and photo-aging, enlarged pores, dull complexions and other facial imperfections or abnormalities can detract from your well being and appearance, no matter how healthy and young you feel.

Harmony® AFT (Advanced Fluorescence Technology) system improves both the superficial and deeper skin layers and rejuvenates the skin while at the same time delivering beneficial thermal energy to deep tissue. After a series of Harmony treatments, you can see a significant reduction of unwanted pigmentation and appearance of smoother, revitalized skin.

The same Harmony®  treatment can be used effectively on any area of the body including the neck, chest, back, arms, hands and legs.

What is IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Treatment?

The Harmony® works by emitting a short burst of light, or “Intense Pulsed Light” that is selectively absorbed by the target in the skin or hair. With skin rejuvenation the target is either pigment, redness or bacteria on the skin. Collagen production is stimulated, restoring the skin to a more youthful appearance. With permanent hair reduction the target is the pigment in the hair.

Rejuvenate your skin non surgically with Harmony®  intense pulse light therapy using advanced fluorescence technology.

The Harmony® Multi-Application System is the world's most sophisticated, expandable platform for aesthetic laser and light treatments. It uses up to seven distinct technologies built into one compact unit:

Alma Harmony® AFT Pulsed Light successfully treats:

  • sun damage
  • redness
  • pigmentation
  • acne
  • facial capillaries
  • skin rejuvenation
  • permanent hair reduction

The treatment is non-invasive and the unique technology is based on stimulating skin rejuvenation and hair removal without damaging the skin.

FDA Status

Harmony® system was cleared to market on April 5th 2004.

The FDA has classified the Harmony® system as a class II medical device.

Stimulate healthy collagen production and refine skin tone

Everyone has unwanted pigmented lesions. Some are browns, some are reds, and some are mixtures of different pigments. Some we are born with, and some we acquire through aging, sun damage, or skin disorders. These dermal irregularities may be managed through different topical medications; however, many people find that advanced skin care treatment with pulsed light is the only effective option.

Photo Facial skin rejuvenation is a process that uses light at specific frequencies to remove several different types of unsightly hyper-pigmentation. Anyone who wants to rejuvenate their skin by improving the signs of sun and environmental damage and aging, such as brown or red spots, capillary damage, redness, uneven or rough skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles, would find the Harmony® Cosmetic IPL technology effective.

The targeted areas precisely absorb pulsed light energy without damaging healthy skin.

Pigmented lesions - the light energy heats the melanin in the lesion and causes it to fragment. The melanin fragments are then absorbed by the body or form a light “scab” and then fall off.

Vascular irregularities (e.g. fine veins, broken capillaries or generalised redness)- the pulsed light energy will selectively heat and close off small blood vessels, reducing the red lesion while sparing nearby tissue from injury.

Skin rejuvenation can also be performed on other parts of the body including the neck, chest, back, arms, hands and legs.

Treatments are generally administered in 4 - 6 sessions monthly.

Clear inflammatory acne lesions comfortably without undesirable side effects

Common acne management approaches are problematic. At best, inconsistent, at worst harmful, conventional methods do not satisfactorily solve this widespread problem..

Topical applications, like ointments and creams are popular for treating acne, but may irritate the skin and do not actually reduce acne bacteria. While antibiotics may be effective in some cases, they often require long-term use, and are not recommended unless necessary. Some acne medications have been linked with potentially serious side effects.

The “Intense Blue Light Therapy” is the most effective way of treating active acne on the skin.

This IPL modality targets the bacteria (porphyrins) on the skin which are produced as part of normal acne metabolism. The Intense Blue Light rapidly destroys the bacteria without damaging the surrounding tissue. The treatment is painless with no adverse effects or downtime.

Messy, painful and ineffective hair removal methods are now a thing of the past.

The Harmony®  AFT Pulsed Light treats unwanted hair with quick bursts of light with no down-time. It effectively removes hairs without causing irritation and minimizes the chances of scarring and pigmentation changes. This non-invasive and effective approach yields permanent hair reduction anywhere on the body.

During photo-epilation, the pigment (melanin) within the hair absorbs the light and converts it into heat. The hair transmits this heat into the hair follicle, which it destroys without damaging surrounding tissue. Thus the follicle cannot produce a new hair.

Although a single treatment session can produce results, the full benefit of IPL hair removal is usually realized through multiple sessions. This is because hair is effectively targeted only during its growth phase. Since your hair is never in the growth phase all at the same time, multiple treatments are usually required to produce the desired results. Once eliminated, however, unwanted hair remains gone for several years and tends to grow back lighter and less coarse.

The result is a quick, safe and effective hair removal that lasts. Due to the growth cycle of a hair follicle a number of treatments are required depending on the area to be treated , the colour and thickness of the hair as well as the skin type. Treatments are best scheduled at 4 – 6 weekly intervals for best results.
